The Nine Lives of Travis Keating by Jill Maclean has been selected for the IBBY Honor List.
Every two years, each of IBBY’s 60+ global offices are invited to submit books for certain categories.
Canada’s office is allowed to submit one English text (including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, etc.),
one French text, one illustrated text,
and one French translation and one English translation. There is
no call to publishers to submit books, so it is up to the chairs of the office to select the book for
each category. Out of all the books published in Canada between 2008-2011,
The Nine Lives of Travis
Keating has been selected as the one English text IBBY Canada is allowed to submit.
“The Honour List diplomas are presented at the IBBY Congresses where the catalogue is introduced and
the books are shown for the first time. Thereafter seven parallel sets of the books circulate around
the world at exhibitions during conferences and book fairs. Permanent collections of the IBBY Honour
List books are kept at the International Youth Library in Munich, the Swiss Institute for Child and
Youth Media in Zurich, Bibiana Research Collection in Bratislava, at IBBY in Tokyo and Northwestern
University Library at Evanston, Illinois.”
