Byrn is a national award-winning food writer and author of the popular cookbooks Food Gifts for All Seasons
(which was nominated for the 1996 Julia Child Cookbook Awards in the American category) and Cooking in the New South. The former food editor for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Byrn currently serves as its Southern correspondent while writing about food and gardening for The Tennessean.
Hathaway received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia in 1975 and has attended the University of Washington and the Atlanta School of Art. Her work has appeared in Ladies Home Journal, Southern Living, Southern Homes, and Atlanta and Veranda magazines, as well as on the Cable News Network. She lives in Marietta, Georgia, with her husband.
