CARMEN AGRA DEEDY was born in Havana, Cuba, and emigrated to the United States with her family in 1963 during the aftermath of the Cuban Revolution. She grew up in Decatur, Georgia. The combination of her Latin American and Southern heritage has had a rich influence upon her work.
DOUGLAS J. PONTE, an illustrator and graphic designer, holds a degree in fine arts from the Pratt Institute in New York. He completed further design studies in Tokyo, Japan. TreeMan is his first book. Ponte lives in Belleair, Florida.
