Each year the forests, hills, bogs, and grasslands of Newfoundland and Labrador burst into a paradise of spectacular wildflowers. This comprehensive guide to 140 common wildflowers native to Newfoundland and Labrador includes spectacular illustrations by painter Dorothy Black. Biologist Peter Scott provides a wealth of information about each flower as well as dietary and medicinal applications.
Originally from Saskatchewan, Dorothy Black is a graduate of the University of British Columbia. She moved to Baie Verte on the island of Newfoundland from 1965-1980, where she painted wildflowers in watercolour. She now pursues her art in eastern Ontario. Peter J. Scott is curator of the Agnes Marion Ayre Herbarium, and a biology professor at Memorial University in Newfoundland.
