Partners in crime - man and mouse
Spence is lost - the brief optimism of his early retirement and bold move from Vancouver to Montreal has devolved to a lonely round of French classes, cycling, and watering his absent daughter's plants. Finding only fragile solace in the shredded remnants of his Catholic faith, Spence struggles with melancholy and a growing anxiety over past sins and the unbidden memories of former sinners.
Distraction arrives in the form of a casual roommate, who moves into Spence's apartment uninvited. Thierry is a petty thief with big ambitions, strong opinions and a foul mouth who quickly draws the former drama teacher into an unexpected theatre of conspiracies. Both mentor and latest student, Thierry, un petit souris, a little mouse, is Spence's little brother in crime.
From Victoria, BC, actor and playwright, David Wallace, is a former Drama and English teacher. His poetry has been published in Journal and Grain magazine. This is his first novel.
