A collection of more than thirty essays covering all aspects of life along the shores of British Columbia, these are stories of small communities and the hardy people who have carved out lives on an isolated coast. Combining first-hand research with historical information, Andrew Scott introduces readers to the region`s changing ways of life and profiles a number of hard-to-reach locations. This book is a contemporary portrait of British Columbia`s unique, distinctive coastal culture in a mosaic of text and images.
Andrew Scott, an award-winning writer, was born and raised in Southern England, and was an active and curious child. This sense of curiosity carried into his adult life and, once he immigrated to Canada, became a passion for exploring BC’s Coast. Andrew has written over 700 articles for both newspapers and magazines, such as Beautiful British Columbia, Discovery, the New Zealand Herald, and the Globe and Mail. He currently lives in Halfmoon Bay on B.C.’s Sunshine Coast.
