Many know of Sophie Scholl, the heroic young German member of The White Rose group, who was executed for resistance to the Third Reich. Few, however, know of Cato Bontjes van Beek, another courageous young German who opposed the Nazi regime and was executed at the age of 22. Growing up in a liberal, stimulating artistic environment, Cato wanted be an artist, but the rise of the Third Reich changed everything for Cato, sending her down a path that would put her at odds with one of the most dangerous and oppressive regimes in history.
