Stewie the Bluey’s Christmas Chewies

From the kitchen of Skink on the Brink author Lisa Dalrymple.

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
¾ cup cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 ¼ cup softened butter or margerine
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
240g/10oz milk chocolate chips
6 crushed candy canes

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
2. Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until creamy.
3. In a separate bowl, stir together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. 
4. Put dry ingredients into wet. Beat well.
5. Stir in chocolate chips and crushed candy canes.
6. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. (Stewie likes to line his cookie sheets with parchment paper first.)
7. Bake 8 to 9 minutes. (Cookies will come out soft and puffy. They will flatten when cooling.) 
8. Cool for a couple of minutes before removing from cookie sheet. Allow to cool on a wire rack.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
