Rob Laidlaw

Rob Laidlaw is a non-fiction author, a chartered biologist and founder of Zoocheck Canada, a wildlife protection organization.

Rob has spent nearly 30 years campaigning to protect animals in captivity and in the wild. That work has involved a wide variety of campaigns and projects, including initiatives to change laws, raise public awareness, litigate in the courts and even animal rescues and relocations. He has met some amazing animals and the people who work to protect them throughout the world, from Canada’s north to tropical Asia. His goal as an author is to encourage both kids and adults to get involved protecting animals.

His book Wild Animals in Captivity was a finalist for the OLA Silver Birch Award, On Parade won the 2011 Vancouver Children’s Literature Roundtable Information Book Award as well as a Skipping Stones Honor Award, and Saving Lives and Changing Hearts won the Skipping Stones Honor Award in 2014.
